FIVEROOMFLAT
Ana Gzirishvili, Salome Dumbadze, Nina Kintsurashvili, Lado Lomitashvili, and Qeu Meparishvili

The flat that is hosting the group show by artists: Ana Gzirishvili, Salome Dumbadze, Nina Kintsurashvili, Lado Lomitashvili, and Qeu Meparishvili has served as a studio space for some. Recent turbulent events have caused this apartment to adopt multiple functions for the five artists. Soon it turned into a temporary living space for some, storage for the others, and a safe space for discussions and thought sharing for all the exhibiting participants.

In places, with a lack of art institutions, artists come together to search for alternative ways to support each other’s practices and evolve individually. Thus affordable urban spaces become vital for the local art scene. The government’s dysfunctional housing politics, unexpected acceleration of gentrification, and the economic crisis has caused the disappearance of such spaces not only for artists but also for citizens.

This apartment that has been hosting artists’ meetings is dear to us. We want to mark this space with our works as a reaction to the invasive gentrification. Fiveroomflat is a translation of the dialogue between participating artists as well as a materialization of their togetherness.

Address: 11 Zurab Chavchavadze st, I Entrance, III Floor.
